ACCELERATION FUNDAMENTALS - 8 WEEKS

The ability to accelerate quickly is one of the most sought after athletic qualities. In my view, the effectiveness of an acceleration is mostly determined by how well the underlying coordination interacts with the context in which an athlete needs to accelerate. The quality of the attractors of accceleration play a huge role in the interaction of the coordination with the environment.

The programme introduces you to key mechanics during acceleration and aims to improve these mechanics in an accessible way. This means that there is a progression in the difficulty level of the exercises and that those exercises should be able to be performed with little equipment.

COORDINATION & ATTRACTORS

Attractors of the movement system are robust, stable and efficient and form crucial components of movement coordination. Improving the attractors which are present during acceleration leads to increases in performance and injury prevention. The programme is build around improving those attractors and contains further information on the attractors: Hip lock, Ankle stiffness, Crossed-extensor reflex, Proximo-distal functioning and co-contractions of the thorax.

UNIQUE EXERCISES AND PROGRESSION

Since this programme is based on the development of attractors, it will contain exercises which you probably haven't seen and performed before. The exercises are unique and challenging. During 8 weeks the fundamentals are progressed into more complex movement patterns. More traditional exercises such as squats are not part of this programme. Also, this programme does not feature any on-field sprinting.

EXERCISE VIDEO'S, APP AND PRACTICAL INFORMATION

There are a total of 39 exercises in the programme which all have dedicated video's. The programme and videos are featured on the app ''Physiapp''. In this app the exercises are layed out for you on the corresponding training days. The programme is performed 3 days a week with different exercises. The key factors of the exercises are named in the app and further explained in the practical information which is sent to you in combination with the programme.

The programme is designed to be able to be completed with little equipment. However, some equipment or creativity is needed to get the most out of the programme. Featured below is a table that provides an overview of the equipment.
